Dell-ivering bigger, faster, and more integrated storage

We’re not going to hide the fact that Dell is one of our closest and most strategic partners for both client and enterprise based storage. This is evident by their latest move to certify Seagate’s 4TB Enterprise Capacity 3.5 drives with their  Compellent SC200 expansion enclosure.

In a Dell blogAngie Huh says “This yields a total of up to 48TB of raw capacity in a single 2U 3.5” enclosure with 12 disk drives, resulting in a 33% density improvement.”

What’s more exciting is Dell’s plans to integrate all of their storage platforms together under one umbrella. This according to a recent Computerworld article of Computerworld, also says, “Dell plans a more dense storage array that will pack 300TB of capacity into a 5U (8.75-in. high) array. The array will be populated with 60 4TB drives.”

The ultimate goal of bigger, faster, and more integrated Dell Storage solutions: more options for customers with more ways to tier their data using SSD, 15,000 RPM, 10,000 RPM, or high capacity 7,200 RPM drives.

And that is music to Seagate’s ears.
