Planning your digital estate because your digital life lives on…

.

Maybe it’s because of Father’s Day and feeling all sentimental, or the recent launch of Seagate’s new Backup Plus drive with the ability to backup our content from our favorite social sites: Facebook, Flickr…the idea that we have so much personal content and memories stored elsewhere (in the cloud), why wouldn’t we want to preserve it for generations to come?

Enter the realm of the Digital Estate Planner and this fine infographic. It made me stop and think about how much time I spend online whether it’s blogging, sharing photos, socializing on Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, or even bookmarking stuff on sites like Pinterest, ScoopIT, Digg, Mashable, or delicious. Now, it’s not every waking moment of every day like some people I know, but it’s a good chunk of my time, and a pretty decent snapshot of my personality, interests, profession, and general biography.  Today, we rely on memories and stories of family and friends passed on through generations, and in the future, we’ll still have those.  But what if your story was able to be told through your digital footprint — be it photos, videos, blogs, or bookmarks?

Think of it…we are writing our own autobiographies in digital form…and for my kids’ kids’ kids, that’s pretty cool.

How much time do you spend living digitally per day?
