When is Seagate going to offer a cloud drive?

The one thing about Cloud Expo, nearly every presentation included the word DATA.  Sometimes even referencing measurements of data like terabytes, petabytes, exabytes, zettabytes, and even yottabytes. All of this storage talk, and no mention of the devices that help make it all possible.

Which brings me to one of the most common questions posed to Seagate, “when is Seagate going to offer a cloud drive? The simple answer, we already have…7 of them.

Whether it’s cloud compute or cloud storage, big data or social media, proprietary software or open source, the purpose of everything cloud is how do businesses efficiently manage the creation, dissemination, usage, and protection of data. And,  at the root of it all are storage devices. When it comes to architecting a cloud infrastructure in order to accomplish the best practices outlined in my last post, it’s the strategic application of storage that can help drive success.
