3 “You’ve Got to Have This” Gadgets for Any Road Trip

Data helped create the perfect road trip. That’s right, I said data. If you feel like a challenge, the route outlined here will have you hitting every major (continental) U.S. landmark in under 14K miles. You may want to pack a thermos.

In an interesting use of algorithmic thinking, the author created a python script to calculate the distance and time to travel to 50 landmarks using 2,500 possible routes. Easy, right?

Everyone loves a good road trip. It’s an exciting way to spend some downtime; it gives you a chance for some fresh fun and good times with family or friends without necessarily breaking the bank.

While you can use data to plan a route for you, some of the best road trips are when you get in the car, pick a direction and go. You’ll be amazed at what you find when you have no particular place to go and all the time in the world to get there.

Either way, you’ll want to be ready to make the most of your time in the car. So as we cruise the open road headed into spring, be sure to pack these three “must have gadgets” for any road trip.

R2-D2 USB Car Charger – Luke Skywalker never went anywhere without his traveling buddy, so why should you? With 2 ports for multiple devices, you’ll want to keep this guy handy while on the open road.

Coolest Cooler – Driving is thirsty work. Instead of stopping at very mini mart you find, fill up the Coolest Cooler with your favorite beverages and munchies and get ready to go to town – any town.

Seagate Wireless – Load up to 2TB of your favorite music (or movies for those relegated to the back seat) that you can stream to any smart device. Bonus points for being able to store your road trip photos onto this external hard drive to relive these moments at another time.

Once you’ve got your gadgets and gassed up the car, there’s nothing to stop you from boldly going to undiscovered lands – except maybe traffic.
