5 Reasons Why the “I” in Image Comics Stands for “Incredible”

It’s not a secret that I’m a comic book fan. I’ve loved reading them since I was a wee lad, and I’ll use this platform to talk about the creativity behind them whenever I feel like tickling my fancy.  When Image Comics launched in 1992 with the top creators of the time, it was new, different and a nice change from what had been going on in Marvel and DC Comics.

During that time, Image Comics has undergone some creative changes but has always done exceptionally well establishing itself as THE alternative to “tights and capes” comics. Image Comic still have some of the books by the founding fathers such as Spawn or Savage Dragon. And sure, they’re good. But here’s what really makes Image Comics “incredible”.

I is for IntrepidManifest Destiny. East of West. These are books that “go boldly” where other comics fear to tread but suck you in captivating art and storytelling.

I is for ImaginationAlex + Ada. Black Science. Saga. Books like these are far from your everyday “fantasy island” excursion but will transport you to another time/place so effortlessly; you may wish they were real.

I is for IntrigueThe Walking Dead. Thief of Thieves. Fatale. Zero. Dead Body Road. All amazing books that put you so deep in the setting of the story, you will feel like you’re there. Books this solid make it hard to wait a month for the next one.

I is for InnovationPeter Panzerfaust. Deadly Class.  Undertow. I’m a fan of familiar concepts being used in a new, unique way and these books really showcase the creative

I’ve been adding more Image Comics to my weekly read list. I love the diversity and the creativity that each book provides. So even though I gave a different way to look at the letter “I” in Image Comics, read one book and I’m sure you’ll agree that they’re “incredible.”

Here’s one other way to look at it – if you love the original programming offered by premium channels like HBO or Showtime, then you’ll love what Image Comics is publishing.
