5 Reasons Why You Need (Yes, Need) an NVIDIA Shield

The PAX Prime show is the last “hurrah” for the game convention circuit. Throughout the events center you’ll see booths by all the major and independent publishers/developers as well as several hardware manufacturers as well One of the big guns that has long been a staple within the gaming space is NVIDIA who has always been known for their products and technologies.  Well not one to rest on past accolades, they’re bringing the heat to portable gaming with the recent release of the NVIDIA® Shield™ – and I LOVE it!

Regardless of what handheld gaming platform you may already have, what they’ve done with this device is pretty amazing. Here’s why you have to have one.

Gaming – HD, 720P graphics on a 5” screen makes every game you play sexy. The controls are fluid, smooth and will be instantly familiar to anyone who’s played a console game in the last 30 years. Trust me, this is a sweet device that’ll give the other handheld systems a legit run for the money.

Entertainment – Movies, books, music. Twitch.TV Hulu, Facebook, Netflix — all in the palm of your hand and perfect for your pocket when you’re on the go.

Android OS – Games. Apps. Stability. Connect with your Google account for an all-in-one solution that lets you do what you want when you want to.

Portable – Uh, hello? Did you miss the part about the screen being 5 inches and the controller fitting in your hand? Whether you’re on a bus, bumper car or a bench in the park, the NVIDIA Shield goes where you go. And if you don’t go anywhere, even better because…

Streaming – That’s right, streaming!  With Wi-Fi connectivity, you can stream your PC games to your NVIDIA Shield and keep the gaming party going even if you have to hit the loo.

Just before posting this, I got this awesome “teardown video” from NVIDIA. While I wouldn’t list this as a 6th reason to buy the NVIDIA Shield, it makes for an interesting, fun clip.  Check it out below!

So there you have it. If that’s not enough motivation to buy an NVIDIA Shield, then you have issues.
