PhotoSpotLand is the Picture Perfect Location for Your Photography

Travel photos are a big deal. Whether you’re surfing through sites like Pinterest or Flickr or just the Facebook feed of your friends, you’ll find no shortage of photos from vacations or business trips to exotic locales. The photography business is something very important to Seagate. We’ve worked with top industry professionals such as Jim Jordan, Jim Sugar, Charles Bergquist and several others who’ve been huge supporters of our products like Backup Plus Fast or the Rugged USB 3.0 from our sister company, LaCie.

While owning a smartphone has made it easy for everyone with a data plan to be an amateur photographer, sites like PhotoSpotLand are focusing on photographers who take pictures the “old-fashioned” way – with actual cameras.

PhotoSpotLand is a travel/photography/social site that allows its members to share and showcase their pictures. Through the service, not only will you be able to find great spots for taking pictures anywhere in the world, but you’ll also get a “behind-the-scenes” feel by getting access the gear the photographer used to capture the photo.

Here’s a quick overview of how it works. After you sign in to the site, you’ll be able to choose what to do first by clicking “What,” “Where,” “When,” or “With Whom.”

For sake of this illustration, let’s choose “Where.” Here you’ll see a map of the world with some hot spots you can click on. Choosing Buenos Ares will bring up an image of Puerto Madero along with some really cool photo stats including:

  • Shot Difficulty
  • Shutter
  • Aperture
  • ISO
  • Flash
  • Tripod
  • Filter
  • Lens

Also included is information about the photo spot including best day/time to visit or things to watch/avoid. This really makes it simple for visiting photographers to get an understanding not only of what was used to compose a decent photo but also information on the location to get the best setup.

Even though it’s currently in beta, PhotoSpotLand is shaping up to be the picture perfect destination for photographers regardless of skill level.
