Seagate Attends the 1st Annual Napa Valley Film Festival

Always looking to broaden their reach to new audiences, Seagate was on hand at the Napa Valley Film Festival joining as a co-sponsor for the Tweet House event taking place November 11-13 in Napa, California.

The Tweet House took place in central Napa at the AVIA Hotel in Downtown. The layout was cozy and intimate allowing for panel sessions with prestigious guests covering topics such as innovations in film technology, the explosion of social music, or what it was like working with Steve Jobs from a former employee with a long-standing history with the technology icon.

The outside patio and terrace was a great place for conversation and networking with background music provided by sponsor Sonos. The patio is where you could connect with one of the several GoFlex Satellite drives dotted throughout the patio to view all of the trailers from the film festival, which were loaded on to each of the drives. With a glass of Flora Springs in hand, this is Napa after all, and your iPad on your lap, you were given the opportunity to plan your film festival weekend by the warmth of the open fire pits.

What’s a film festival without the occasional celebrity popping by to see what’s buzzing? Scott Wolf was on hand for the event and it was great to watch his eyes pop as Seagate’s own, Greg Falgiano, gave him a Satellite demo via iPad. Adrian Grenier and Peter Glatzer attended the Tweet House Saturday night to discuss their new project SHFT.com – a project who’s mission is to use video, design, art and culture to “shift” to a more eco-friendly lifestyle.  If you’re not familiar with the San Francisco based group, Stroke 9, get a taste of them from this video. This alt-rock quartet helped bring the night to a close by performing a select number of songs for guests.

Napa’s connection to the Silicon Valley was not lost on this crowd. There was a number of tech luminaries and media in attendance. We gave a demo to Mashable’s Ben Parr and he ended up leaving with a review sample of the much-desired GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless drive. Seeing the wheels of possibilities turn in the head of Jeff Pester was great as he walked away saying, “This [Satellite] is much cooler than I thought it was going to be.”  I love that we were able to blow his mind. As a family man, Twitter creator and author Dom Sagolla, could see the limitless possibilities of the drive and already knew how he’d use it for his family vacations. And what’s a tech event without Robert Scoble to bring color commentary, unique insight and a good cigar?

If you have a chance to attend a Tweet House event in the future, I’d definitely recommend it. You’ll have a good time, meet some great people and establish connections built to last. As my first event for Seagate, it was a nice change of pace from other events I’ve attended in the past and I definitely learned a thing or two about film, wine and, of course, Seagate.

“So why was Seagate in Napa for the film fest?”, you ask as you furrow your brow and scratch your head.  Easy! GoFlex Satellite is specifically designed for movie lovers who enjoy watching videos from their tablet or iPad.  The Napa Valley Film Festival was a great opportunity to showcase the drive to film enthusiasts and leave them saying – “It’s cooler than I thought it would be!”.
