Seagate lends its storage strength to Sky Q Silver

If you haven’t already signed up, Sky Q is the next generation home entertainment system from Sky. The innovative new system provides customers with an advanced level of connectivity via a family of smart devices, including the Sky Q Silver box, Sky Q box, Sky Q Mini box, Sky Q hub and Sky Q touch remote.

Helping Sky bring Sky Q to life is Seagate. After a long-term partnership of over 10 years, millions of Sky+HD boxes sold (all equipped with a Seagate Hard Drive), and two years of engineering collaboration on Sky Q, Seagate has been chosen to supply the 2TB drives required for Sky’s top of the line product: Sky Q Silver.

Armed with 12 TV tuners, and a slick, intuitive user interface, Sky Q Silver‘s many features include the option of recording four channels while watching a fifth, along with the opportunity to view content on two other TVs (thanks to Sky Q mini box), and two tablets simultaneously – handy if your family is split between fans of Game of Thrones and The Blacklist, or cannot be in the same room when Arsenal are playing Tottenham.

In order to keep up with the increasing demands and needs of its customers, this device required a high performance hard drive. Seagate’s 2TB component will provide users with up to 350 hours of recorded HD footage and, when Sky launches Ultra HD content later in 2016, this extra storage space will become even more valuable.

If you’re an existing subscriber, you’ve probably already received some tempting details on how you can upgrade.  For those of you who are thinking of investing in Sky in time for the next series of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the Sky Q Silver box is available to order now.
