Sharp as a Razer

Over the last few years, I’ve spent more time on the console side of gaming than the PC side. It’s not about graphics or game quality but instead about comfort. Like many of you, I have a desk job where I’m sitting upright for 8+ hours typing away like a madman.

However with my console, I’m kicked back on the couch, with my Red Bull at the ready; I’ve got headphones on and am looking at a 42” screen. (Judge me not by my size).

Yet there are times I do miss the world of PC gaming and with recent releases like Star Wars: The Old Republic, I think about picking up where I left off.  The issue is that I’ve since forgone my PC roots and joined the Cult of Mac.

But along came a Razer

So before jumping into the PC gear, let’s talk about their recently announced tablet, Project Fiona. Fully optimized for gaming using an Intel® Core™ i7 with up to 1280×800 display and Dolby® 7.1 surround sound.  Scheduled to release later in 2012, I’m looking forward to seeing this machine in action – especially if they can keep the sticker price under $1000.

Now as for PC gear, Razer has a great staple of gaming peripherals ranging from keyboards to mice to headsets where are all top notch, clean and feel very natural when using them.

What really turned me on were the Tiamat headsets with their 7.1 surround sound audio goodness. I won’t bore you with the blah-blah five drivers per ear blah-blah subwoofer blah-blah bass details. Just know that by cranking these bad boys up, you will hear every gun shell you fire hit the floor or the wisp of wind as your elven brethren march through a valley preparing for battle.  All this can be yours for under $200.

Razer also had a gamut of keyboards and mice also on display that round out the perfect setup, but I will definitely start with the headphones when rebuilding my Death Star.

What’s your gaming setup? Give me the lowdown in the comments below or via Twitter.
