Something Incredible This Way Drones – ZANO – CES 2015

ZANO and Phone

“Taking your selfies to new heights” may be the tagline for the new drone, ZANO, but this is an amazing little device where its use is only limited by the owner’s imagination.

With a small window left on their Kickstarter, Torquing Group has created something incredible with ZANO where an already thriving community are looking to put the ZANO through the paces.

Controllable via your iOS or Android smart device, ZANO allows for aerial photos and full HD video capture (stored to an SD card).

When we began work on ZANO, our goal was to make aerial photography and video capture truly accessible to everyone. This meant making ZANO small and lightweight, yet durable enough to take with you anywhere. Intelligent enough so no piloting skills were required, and most of all, pricing ZANO at a point that makes it affordable.” Reece CrowtherHead of Marketing

By the looks of things, Torquing Group are well on their way. The device is small enough to fit inside the palm of your hand, but durable to withstand some of the pressures life in the great outdoors will put on it.

ZANO is built with sensors to help alleviate object collision and if it strays too far from your device or detects being low on battery, will automatically return to you. Controlling the drone from your device can be done either through gestures (e.g. swiping the screen) or via on-screen controls for steering and adjusting altitude. With up to 15 minutes of continuous flight time and a distance of up to 30 meters, ZANO does well setting itself apart from other “action camera” competitors.

ZANO is expected to release this summer and pricing is still TBD. And yes, Mr. Wayne, it even comes in black. 🙂
