This New Wearable Tech Helps You Follow Your Heart to a Healthier Life – CES 2015

Fitness

Everyone expected to see a good deal of wearables at the Consumer Electronics Show this year and companies did not disappoint. While Google Glass may not have been handy, there were plenty of other companies to fill the void. Meshing wearables with healthcare is an offshoot of the trend that continues to pick up steam. One company in particular, LifeTrak seems to be making some headway.

If you’re not familiar with LifeTrak or their name sounds vaguely familiar but can’t place it, you may want to look at some of the manufacturers of the equipment at your favorite gym. And with their long experience working with the military and NASA, the team behind LifeTrak products have set themselves apart from competitors with a solid history in the fitness/healthcare industry.

LifeTrak has a varied line of products available, with different levels appropriate depending on your level of “health investment.” For those looking to get into the health and fitness market, the Core C200 will get your foot in the door allowing you to keep eyes on your heart rate as well as calorie intake. For those who are a bit more invested, the Brite R450 will give you all the bells and whistles of the other devices, but also monitor sleeping activity with SleepTrak 2.0. Devices are also app enabled allowing you to store data and analyze your activity trends over time. This is very handy for those who are looking to reach specific milestones around their personal care.

Devices come in an assortment of colors as well as complementary bands to match your personality. Announced during the show is the LifeTrak GEM – this wearable stands out because the device doesn’t require you to wear it as a watch. It’s small enough to fit in an armband while you work out, or even in your sock if you’re biking or doing some other similar activity. This allows you to wear the wearable where you want to.

If you’re in the market for a new activity tracker, “follow your heart” and give LifeTrak a look. Devices are affordable and range from $60-$130.
