Where Should You Keep Your Data?

Data is growing at an astronomical rate and aside from completely shutting down email, photos, media and expense reports, there’s nothing that we can really do to stop that.

I had a recent chat with the Marking Manager for Seagate Central where we were talking about some cool stuff coming down the pipe. (A tease, I know. Just stay tuned.)

It got us both thinking about how much data is being consumed on a regular basis and the transition from people buying physical goods to streaming their media content.  Then there are those who are converting their CD’s and DVD’s to digital files to store on their hard drive — or just buying digital downloads to begin with.

Obviously with a product like Seagate Central, streaming those digital files over WiFi is a logical solution because of its capacity and ability to stream your music or movies to multiple devices simultaneously.

Stepping back, however, and looking at data as a whole, there is so much being generated that it can be daunting.  I found this dandy infograph courtesy of our brothers-in-storage NetApp that really highlights the ongoing data deluge.

The amount of data consumption may not be something top of mind.  With emails, photos and not to mention the abundance of social media channels, data consumption is just a part of life as common as fast food and reality TV. (Though I could do without the latter.)

When you have a good storage solution (like a Seagate Central since I’m talking about it) you won’t need to worry about data consumption.  You can fill up it until your heart is content and access your content from anywhere. With a Seagate Central, you don’t have to worry about where you keep your data – it’ll be with you anytime, anyplace.
