EVault and Zeriva work together on backup and cloud storage

Zeriva and EVault, a Seagate company and Cloud Builder Alliance partner, have teamed up on a series of cloud storage and backup solutions. The partnership follows close on the heels of EVault's announcement that it would be rolling out support for Microsoft Windows Azure, underscoring EVault's broadening ambitions in the enterprise backup and storage spaces.

The Zeriva-EVault collaboration encompasses EVault's solutions for endpoint protection, hybrid backup and recovery. A single technology platform is shared across all EVault products, making it easy to integrate on-premises and cloud-based data management processes, so that IT departments can rapidly access local data while still being able to perform disaster recovery from the cloud.

Zeriva delivers premium IT services, and it decided to work with EVault in order to improve the quality of its solutions. The flexibility of EVault backup and recovery was appealing in light of the increasing hybridization of IT infrastructure, with many on-premises deployments now bolstered by public cloud computing services.

"As a Seagate company [that] already has over 40,000 customers, we believed that EVault was the right partner to deliver quality solutions to our existing customer base," stated Zeriva CEO Paul Parker. "EVault gives our customers confidence that their data is secure and accessible with the added benefit of selecting their service delivery method with public cloud, private cloud and hybrid options."

Currently, EVault has approximately 40 percent market share, and it has obtained a number of certifications in North America and Europe. Forty-three thousand businesses use its backup and recovery technologies.

A Forrester Research survey of 438 organizations recently found that the disaster recovery as-a-service market, with key players such as EVault and SunGard, was growing steadily. About 20 percent already used DRaaS, and another 22 percent expected to implement it.
