Supermicro, a Seagate Cloud Builder Alliance partner, has announced new solutions for the virtual desktop infrastructure space. The company’s enterprise-class platforms are optimized for NVIDIA GRID K1/K2 GPU accelerators, providing both strong performance and high energy efficiency. Supermicro’s offerings leverage efficient cooling systems to support reliable, high-density computing appliances that handle intensive workloads.
Supermicro is offering a range of newly NVIDIA GRID VDI certified systems, including 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U SuperServers. All of these appliances feature 2 Xeon E5-2680 V2 processors and 16GB DDR3-1866. The 4U products are available as 4U/Tower Servers or 4U 4-Node FatTwin SuperServers.

These certified platforms provide the energy efficiency that organizations need for effective modern server-side computing. The NVIDIA GRID K1/K2 GPU accelerators have enabled new possibilities for graphics-intensive applications, but appliances must be well cooled or they could drive up infrastructure and electric costs. To this end, Supermicro’s solutions reduce total cost of ownership, enabling enterprises and data center operators to renew their focus on service delivery and increase profit margins.
Supermicro’s appliances have already been very successful in areas such as South Africa and Europe. ITWeb reported that Supermicro recently extended its partnership with EET Europarts, which will continue to distribute Supermicro SuperServers, SuperBlades and other products optimized for energy efficiency. EET Europarts reported that it was adjusting its operations to prepare for higher customer demand for Superrmicro’s offerings.
