Certain Seagate drives are supported by the Works With Chromebook program. Chromebooks use a different operating system (known as Chrome OS) than Mac and Windows computers. There are some things to keep in mind when using the drive with Chromebooks.
What drives are supported by the Works With Chromebook program?

The accompanying Toolkit software is not compatible with Chrome OS
- Most Seagate drives come with Toolkit, but Toolkit is not compatible with Chrome OS. Instead, the drive can be used like a large flash drive. Drag and drop or copy and paste the data from the Chromebook to the drive.
Seagate Secure password protected drives
- There is no way to unlock drives that have been password protected by Toolkit on Chrome OS.
- To access your data on Chrome OS, disable security using Toolkit on a Windows or Mac computer. See the Toolkit user manual for details on disabling the password.
The bundled software is not compatible with Chrome OS
- The Adobe and Mylio bundled software are not compatible with Chrome OS. The offers can still be redeemed but it must be done using a Windows or Mac computer.
Can I use the drive between Chromebook and Windows or Mac?
- Yes, Seagate drives ship formatted as exFAT. This will allow the drive to be used between both Chromebook and Windows or Mac.
Are there any limitations when using it between Chromebook and Windows or Mac?

How do I safely eject the drive?
- Open Files app
- Locate the drive
- Click the eject icon next to the drive name
