Seagate NAS OS 4.0 - Basic share access in MAC OS X
Use Mac OS X options to access shares on the Seagate NAS.
OS X - Mounting shares
From the Finder bar at the top of the screen, click on Go, then Connect to Server.
The Connect to Server box will open.
There are 4 ways to mount a share in OS X.

CIFS

SMB

AFP - The AFP service must be enabled in the NAS Device Manager under Services.

NFS - The NFS service must be enable in the NAS Device Manager under Services.
In this example we will use CIFS to mount a share by NAS Hostname or IP Address.
1. In the Server Address field type:
Example:
Hostname: cifs://seagate-d2
IP Address cifs://192.168.1.53
Note: When connecting to the NAS with AFP and Hostname, a .local will be needed after the Hostname.
Example: afp://seagate-d2.local
2. Click on Connect
A box will open with options to connect to Shares on the NAS as Guest or Registered User.
3. Connect as Guest
- Choose to "Connect as: Guest"
- Click Connect
- A box will open listing prompting to "Select the volumes you want to mount"
- Select the public share you want to mount and then click Public “OK”
Note: You will only be able to mount public shares when connecting as Guest.
The Public share will be mounted on the OS X Desktop.
4. Connect as Registered User (Private Share)
a. Choose to "Connect as: Registered User"
b. Type in the username and password for a private share and choose to "Remember this password in my keychain" if needed, then click on Connect
A box will open prompting to "Select the volumes you want to mount."
c. Choose a share then click on OK
NOTE: You will be able to mount any share the users have permissions for.
The Shared Folder will be mounted on the OS X Desktop.
