Today, Seagate announced the world’s first 4 bay 12TB, and 2-bay 6TB network attached storage server. The BlackArmor NAS440 and NAS220 are fully equipped with 3.0TB hard drives. That’s a capacity bump of 50% over the predecessor – BlackArmor NAS systems with 2.0TB drives!
Don’t ask when the 3.0TB drives will be available as bare drive upgrades, but given Seagate has a GoFlex Desk 3.0TB, and now a BlackArmor NAS440 & NAS220 with 3.0TB, it has to be sometime soon. So those of you that have a NAS400 series product that want to upgrade with 3.0TB drives, hang tight, they’re coming.
This latest evolution of the BlackArmor NAS family – moving to 3.0TB drives – proves that the small business and prosumer market is hungry for storage. 12TB’s is a ton of space, but with tons of space, comes a lot of freedom and flexibility. Store more. Create more. Share more. And, of course protect everything, all for less than $2000 MSRP. The 12TB BlackArmor NAS440’s suggested retail price is $1899. Compare that to other 12TB solutions – I did a search at CDW for 12TB and the next lowest priced solution is $3799!
50% more capacity and 50% less expensive than comparable 12TB solutions.
Hmm…can you say no brainer.
