If I were an art critic, I would say something like (insert sophisticated voice for effect)…and a healthy dose of sarcasm:
“this is an exquisite metaphor of humanity’s continuous battle between analog and digital. That we are all craving to return to a time when we took pen to paper. A time when we used basic arithmetic skills to tell it’s 2:55. We look to turn our backs on technology that has brought us to a time where a simple handwritten letter has been replaced by a tweet. A time when opening the mail meant ripping open an envelope, and unfolding stationary, and reading aloud, not clicking with a mouse, or pointing with your finger. A time when storage meant file cabinets and closets, not partitions and arrays. Damn you hard drives and your digitization of our lives. Your taking of our time. Your theft of what made us human…our anolog-ness. Analog is the new digital”
Then again, maybe it’s just a cool gold clock slash pen holder.
