Newsweek’s Green Rankings 2010 vs 2009

Newsweek released their 2010 Green Rankings.  Seagate again was cited as the “greenest” of the hard drive companies listed in the Technology sector.  Compared to the 2009 Rankings, Seagate stayed relatively the same only moving 6 spots.  So, who were the big movers this year.

  • CA Technologies moved up 26 spots from #43 in 2009 to #17 in 2010
  • Cognizant Technologies moved up 24 spots from #49 to #25
  • Computer Sciences moved up 21 from #42 to #21
  • Marvell Technology Group moved up 15 from #46 to #31
  • Intuit moved up 14, from #32 to #18

When companies move, undoubtedly, there are those that move down:

  • Western Digital fell 14 spots from #31 to #44
  • Analog Devices fell from13, from #28 to #41
  • Qualcomm fell 13, from #26 to #39
  • Virgin Media fell 11, from #25 to #36

What about the new arrivals to the list?

  • Unisys #36
  • VMWare #38
  • Convergys #42
  • Telephone and Data Systems #46
  • CenturyLink #48
  • NCR #49

Regardless of who moved up, who moved down, credit is due to these companies to be on this list in the first place and be recognized for their efforts in environmentally responsible operations.

I wonder what the least green list would look like…
