Seagate at the Intel Channel Conference – Minneapolis

Fellow blogger and Product Marketing Manager Barbara Craig and I represented Seagate at Intel’s annual Channel Conference in Minneapolis, MN yesterday.  This year Intel combined the channel conference with their embedded conference, so the attendees were a good mix of traditional solution providers and design & engineering companies.

Seagate touted it’s Constellation & Constellation ES capacity optimized enterprise drives,  as well as its Solid State Hybrid drive Momentus XT which was all the talk at the booth. Both the embedded and the channel guys expressed much interest in the technology, some saying that it’s all they use.  They have all but discarded standard disk drives, and moved their desktops and notebooks to hybrid.  The quote, “it’s a natural progression for hard drives. It just makes sense.”

On the embedded side, we were asked more about Seagate SSD drives – preferably low capacity, low power solution for embedded systems. Unfortunately for this group, Seagate does not have any immediate plans (that I know of) for this application.

It’s always good to meet and greet with our channel partners and hear what they are up to, as well as listen to how we can improve the partnership.  This year was especially interesting to meet with some of the embedded companies and hear how their designs are impacting their storage demands as well.

Kudos Intel.
