Marvel Unlimited – “Its Like Netflix for Comics”

I asked my friend once what was the Marvel Unlimited app (which, I’ll say now is pretty rad for either, web, Android or iOS) and his response was “its like Netflix for comics.”

Pretty accurate description.

The Marvel Unlimited app is a way to manage your digital subscriptions on your smartphone or tablet.  Whether you connect your device to a Wi-Fi setup to stream your books or download up to six books for offline use, you’ll able to take “your universe” with you anywhere.

Obviously given the span of the Marvel library, not every book is digitized for your enjoyment, but they have a really solid selection and are adding to it all the time.  If you’re an avid comic reader, the $10 a month (or $70 a year) is really a drop in the bucket to read Fantastic Four #1 or Tales of Suspense #63 which has the first appearance of Marvel’s @AgentMM.O.D.O.K.

As you read this, comic book and pop culture fans are nerd-deep in San Diego Comic Con. There will have already been a slew of announcements made for newly announced projects, comic-related films, celebrity panel recaps and much more.

If you’re not familiar with SDCC, think of it as an event for comics and popular culture the way that E3 is for video gaming or CES is for technology.  Since its inception in 1970, it’s become a very big deal and getting bigger each year with up to 180,000 people descending into the city from all over the globe to get news, buy exclusive toys and collectibles, catch a glimpse of their favorite comic creators or even actors from television or film.

If you get a chance to visit, I would highly recommend it. Comic-Con is a great, family friendly extravaganza.
