The 5 “You Have to Download This” Apps You May Have Missed

Mobile Apps

Let’s be honest, picking just five apps that are a “must download” was tough. There are literally millions of apps out there for smartphones and tablets for (again) millions of categories.  Trying to narrow it down was an exercise in popularity and preference. Some of these you may already have, but if you don’t, you have to download this.

  1. Two Dots – Simplicity is elegance, but it can also be a lot of fun. Two Dots is a puzzle game where you essentially have to connect a minimum of two dots to advance and win each level. It’s not as simple as it sounds and naturally the game gets harder as you progress. But as challenging as it can get, the charming music and graphics make it enticing to keep playing. Available for both Android and iOS, Two Dots is the perfect time killer between tasks, waiting for the start of a movie or during conference calls.
  2. EyeEm – One thing that stands out about EyeEm is its community. It’s very different from Instagram or Flickr because of its ability to tag and see photos in/around your area. The EyeEm community has a plethora of shots including scenic portraits, architecture, landscapes, cityscapes and more – it’s much more of a lifestyle than just “Pics or it didn’t happen” moments. Geared with the photographer in mind, EyeEm is available for both Android and iOS.
  3. Feedly – R.I.P. Google Reader. There have been many RSS readers trying to fill the vacuum that Google Reader left behind, and at the top of that list is Feedly. Feedly is an easy-to-use tool to keep you “in the know” for content that’s important to you. In this information age, it’s great to have a tool to keep it at your fingertips. Feedly is available for Android and iOS.
  4. Lyve – Imagine a tool that would not only backup and secure all your photos and videos, but also give you access to them anytime/anywhere. Imagine a tool that automatically syncs photos, across platforms, from your device or computer – regardless of what device you’re using. Imagine no more, Lyve does all this. Simple and easy to use, Lyve is a gift from the media syncing gods and is available for Android, iOS, OSX, Windows, Kindle Fire.
  5. TED – Everyone needs inspiration now and again. Everyone needs a kick in the pants. Everyone needs to see what greatness can look like. TED Talks delivers inspiration, greatness and pants kicking to you on your Android and iOS device focusing on topics ranging from Art to Philosophy (because Z words are hard) which will inspire, entertain and, well, kick you in the pants.

Apps have informed us, entertained and amused us, given us convenience, serenity and even food straight to our doorstep. This has been a good year for apps, and it’s exciting to see what mobile app innovation we’ll experience in 2015.  Comment below on your favorite 5 that you think should be downloaded.
