Cisco collaborating with Seagate? on flip’n what?

Last week, Cisco announced a “Designed for Flip” accessory program, and guess who shows up on the list of partners?  Seagate of course.  Details with respect to what exactly Seagate will be providing in terms of an accessory, but we know it’s storage, and it’s always fun to speculate.

The accessory category that Seagate is working with Cisco on is the FlipPort(TM). According to Cisco’s press release, The FlipPort is a uniquely developed connector found on the bottom of the new Flip UltraHD 8 GB/2 hour video camera — also announced today — that will become a standard feature on future generations of Flip video cameras.  The FlipPort, will allow a range of specialized accessories to easily plug right in to Flip video cameras and open up a world of new uses and creativity for consumers.”

Hmm… “a uniquely developed connector”… what storage device also has a uniquely developed connector?  I can only speculate that Seagate’s GoFlex has something to do with this, but I guess we’ll have to wait to see what actually transpires in the coming weeks or months.   Think of all the video you could shoot and store without the need for a computer. I am dreaming here, but anything’s possible these days.

Something to keep your eye on…check out the new Ultra HD Flip and Seagate’s GoFlex drives.

Is this love at first sight?  maybe.
