Should Seagate get into supermodeling?

Sorry, I am not talking about the supermodels in the traditional sense. I’m talking about building expertise in the areas of cloud data center design and analytics.

This is exactly what one small group of masterminds at Seagate is doing. They call themselves CMDA: Cloud Modeling & Data Analytics. It sounds pretty heavy, and believe me, it is. I have seen the modeling tools this group has put together and the information that can be gleaned from them is amazing.

Think of Seagate’s CMDA as a think tank rooted in data, mathematical algorithms and formulas, and scientific insight to anything and everything storage when it comes to the data center. Everything from capacity, performance and power, to workloads, reliability, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). And that just scratches the surface.

The CMDA group is sharing some of it insights on Seagate’s Cloud News Blog under the appropriate tag CMDA. I highly suggest subscribing to their feed, and if you have a question, reach out to them, they are always looking for another great storage mystery or challenge to solve.

Here are the first of many views from the team:

So, usher in a new era of supermodels 🙂
