Now you can stream all the music, movies, TV shows, photos, and home videos stored on your Seagate Personal Cloud straight to your TV — using your Xbox or Playstation as the transmitter to your TV!
If you have a Seagate Personal Cloud, but you don’t already have a TV streaming device (like Chromecast or Apple TV) — now you can connect Personal Cloud to your TV using your Xbox or Playstation. These are two of the most common devices attached to folks’ TVs — so, if you’re one of the millions of happy game console owners, this may be the day streaming your stuff straight to your TV got easy!
(Seagate Personal Cloud is the simpler, sleeker version of an in-home PC server. It gives your devices immediate access to all your data, without needing a cloud storage service. It works over Wi-Fi to let you get your stuff from any Wi-Fi device like your laptop, tablet or phone.)
Seagate Personal Cloud becomes a Plex Media Server
Personal Cloud becomes a Plex Media Server when you download the Plex Media Server app through Seagate’s NAS app store. It can already play content to your TV through Chromecast, Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV and other devices, if you have those. Now, when you install the Plex app on your Xbox or Playstation, you can easily bring all your personally-curated music, movies and other media to your TV as well. (Plex also offers many on-demand channels, to let you stream media you don’t own, as well.)
What is Plex?
Plex turns your Seagate Personal Cloud device into a centralized home media playback system, that streams its media to Plex player apps. With or without Plex, you can always use Personal Cloud to access your files from laptops, smartphones and tablets. But Plex Media Server makes the process beautiful for streaming media, because it makes it easier to:

As a bonus for Xbox, Plex combined with Xbox Kinect supports voice and gesture control, allowing you to navigate your media library, view content, and control playback without needing an Xbox controller. You can also use any SmartGlass enabled device to control or mirror your Plex library.
Of course, you can also stream your movies and such from your Personal Cloud to any of your Wi-Fi devices. But today, Playstation and Xbox users can rejoice because with just a great game console, a Seagate Personal Cloud, and Plex — it’s all on the big screen!
