Seagate GoFlex – 2 terabytes of storage for my iPad?

Yesterday,  Seagate announced a bold new approach to external storage for consumers. The new GoFlex line of storage solutions stresses a more flexible approach to external storage:

  • The flexibility to change the interface to match your connectivity needs…no more being forced to buy a specific drive because it’s the only one with the interface option you need.  GoFlex ships with a standard USB 2.0 interface adapter, and you can choose to switch out that interface with a FireWire 800, USB 3.0, or eSATA adapter (sold separately).
  • The flexibility of PC & Mac compatibility built into a single solution…no more special product lines with limited options for Mac users.
  • The flexibility to access to content from anywhere on anything…  on the go with GoFlex Net:  a two drive dock that ships with remote access via Pogoplug technology and no subscription fees. Access your content from anywhere at anytime from nearly any device (iPad users take notice), and on your television with GoFlex TV: The beauty of FreeAgent Theater+ in a smaller form factor.

The interface flexibility is cool because for power users that want higher speed, buy a USB 3.0 adapter kit, or FireWire 800 kit.   For me, I like the remote access capability. A couple GoFlex 1.0TB drives in a dual drive network-able dock, I have access to my 2.0TB of content on my iPhone,  and more of a reason to get an iPad. … that 64GB limitation and no storage expansion was too hard a pill for me to swallow…until now.

What will GoFlex enable you to do? Better yet, where will it enable your content to go?

How did you manage to connect to your iPhone? I just got a GoFlex 2TB drive and connected 2 laptops and my Xbox to it. I would like to connect my iPad as well as iphone4 to it.

@Griff You have to use your Seagateshare.com account. I setup a shortcut on my iPhone, login, and then you can see all your files you placed in the public folder. Currently, that’s the only way to do it…not the best, but it works for me. Have a great holiday!
