Seagate’s “symbolic” focus on the laptop market

With the introduction of the Momentus XT, Seagate rounds out it’s family of hard drives for laptop computers.  Four years ago, Seagate was a small player in the laptop space, with little market share in comparison to what it enjoys on the desktop and enterprise space. Today, that is all changing with one of the industry’s widest variety of drives and technologies aimed at mobile computing… Seagate is a force to be reckoned with in the laptop space.

From the Momentus Thin, launched December 2009, an industry first that adds much needed capacity and affordability to manufacturers of ultra thin notebooks and netbooks where SSD sacrifices capacity to reach consumer friendly  price points, to the newly revealed Momentus XT for those that crave SSD-like performance but not wanting to pay the price, Seagate seems to cover the spectrum.

Let’s not forget Momentus. What was previously Momentus 5400 and Momentus 7200 (2 separate lines) is now one with a ton of options to choose from like the obvious spin speed, to capacity, to encryption and G-Force protection. Touted as the mainstream line, Momentus goes beyond simply affordable capacity and performance for the everyday user.
