What does CES stand for?

The beauty of acronyms…you can make them stand for virtually anything.  When it comes to CES, Consumer Electronics Show is the meaning behind the letters, but since content consumption is the ultimate goal of most of the devices shown this coming year, and consumption cannot exist without creation, and neither can exist without storage… I thought I would try some new acronyms:

  • Content Enabled Storage
  • Consume, Enjoy, Store
  • Consuming Exponential Storage
  • Craving Extra Storage
  • Cloud Enabled Storage
  • Connected Everywhere Storage

There is no doubt that storage is a big enabler to the technology we’ll see at CES in a couple weeks…maybe it’s not the sexiest product or technology to talk about. Maybe, many think storage is storage is storage…it’s cheap and it’s all the same. Companies like Seagate are changing that thinking with innovations like GoFlex for the home, Momentus XT for the laptop, Pulsar for the server, and Constellation for the cloud.

I am sure there is more up Seagate’s sleeve than what we’ve seen in 2010. From Seagate’s perspective, maybe CES should be called:  Cutting Edge Storage

See you from the show.
