I should be packing so not to miss my plane right now, but I’d been thinking about some of the highlights from SXSW this week and there was one aspect of the show I had not yet written about – creativity.
Starting off with Interactive, then Music & Film, SXSW has a lot to offer during its 10-day run and you can’t forget the things that run peripheral to the show like Screenburn, GDGT, the Music Gear Expo, Flatstock and Style X.
More curious than a monkey named George, I wanted to check out Style X to see what I could see – I saw a lot.
Bucketfeet – Hand pick premiere artists to use a pair of kicks as their canvas. The shoes are creative, bright, colorful and fun. If I wasn’t so adamant about not packing anything extra from my trip, I could easily see myself taking a few of these back home with me.
Deefind – I admit I don’t always know what’s “in fashion.” I feel it is something that can be defined by the individual. But I know what’s hot and these shoes are on fire. What I love about them is the design and the uniqueness of them. Easily something I’d expect to see someone wear on the red carpet at a Hollywood event.
The Art of the Bag – Be it wallets, bags or bracelets, Elliott has some creative products with art that I found myself drawn to because the detail going into each piece was amazing. Using images ranging from Jimi Hendrix to Audrey Hepburn to Wonder Woman, each item has it’s own style and personality that reminded me of a composition of music.
Dandy’s – I’ve always been fascinated by the look of Victorian Era and Dandy’s makes suits, hats, shoes (yes, shoes) and accessories from the 1870’s to 1930’s. I’ll admit, I don’t know if I’d ever have a reason for such attire, but I know many people interested in cosplay and steampunk would cherish a store like this. And ok, I do want a derby for some reason.
Many may wonder why companies like Seagate would attend a show like SXSW; so let me connect those dots. While our core business is creating hard drives, it’s the story of how a person uses that hard drive is what we love to share. Whether it is music, artwork, film, photography, game concepts, or fashion designs, Seagate is the storage solution of choice for creative professionals and we are in this, with you, for the long haul.
