Google Lets You “Play” in the “Cloud”

Sometimes Google does so much, that you can miss some news if you’re not paying attention.  Google recently introduced Google Play to the world.  Now if you’re a diehard Apple fan, stay with me, this will be interesting to you too.

Touting Google Play as a means of taking your entertainment everywhere, Google Play will replace the Android Marketplace as the portal where you’ll find movies, books, games and apps for your Android OS device. Spiffy, right?

The kicker is that Google Play is entirely cloud-based so all of your favorite cyber-baubles will be available to you at the tap of a button.  And you know we at Seagate love the cloud. Don’t believe me? Well check out this postthis post, and that post and this post oh, and don’t forget this one too.

So for the iPhone fans reading this, you’ll probably recognize some of the “me too” aspects as you already have this handy-dandy functionality via iCloud.  If you look close, even the videos explaining iCloud and Google Play are similar.

Sometimes coming late to the party is better than not coming at all.  Now that they have a lay of the land (or the cloud) Google is in a good position to get a strong wind behind them and push their cloud further across the sky. And if you’re like me, you’ll be watching to make sure that this cloud isn’t filled with rain.

How will you “Play in the Cloud?”  Leave a comment below, on Twitter or on our Facebook page.
