Got Your iPad? Get MORE media

As the 2011 Macworld Conference & Expo gears up, rumors are flying about Apple’s anticipated new tablet, which people are calling the iPad 2, particularly following this recent Engadget article. The original iPad released last year rocked the consumer tech market—creating its own playing field and spurring a consumer buying frenzy!

So will Apple indeed unveil its iPad 2 appear at Macworld Expo 2011? In short, it’s not likely. Apple has not exhibited at Macworld since 2009 and chances are slim that they will make this the venue to launch the next generation of the company’s most successful product to-date. Sorry Charlie! However, if you are among those people fascinated with your new iPad and searching for a cool new way to USE your iPad, consider this scenario:

If you travel often, chances are good that at one time or another you’ve been stuck in some hotel room with bad cable, wanting to either watch one of your favorite shows or movies, or perhaps feast on a few juicy pages from your favorite book. So you pull out your iPad and….oh shoot, it’s not on there. It’s stored on your computer or hard drive back at home. NUTS!

But wait—there’s an easy way for you to use your iPad to remotely access your home computer by leveraging the Seagate GoFlex Net Media sharing device. The GoFlex Net helps you set up what’s like a home network, but without any complexity—meaning there’s not much more to do than plug it in and set up an online account. The result is that you can access a home external hard drive or computer from anywhere in the world, using any computer, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, iPhone or BlackBerry by logging into your personal account.

With just a few taps of the finger—presto! You have access to the entire contents of your home computer, either of the two drives you have docked neatly into your GoFlex Net, or any other USB connected device that you have linked to the GoFlex Net via the two additional USB ports on the dock. Now that’s A LOT more content that you could have otherwise loaded onto that itty-bitty SSD drive in your iPad right?!  By pairing your GoFlex Net with your iPad, you “can leave home without it” because you’ll always have access to your content from wherever you are.

Seagate will be demoing the GoFlex Net media sharing device and its interoperability with the iPad at the Macworld expo taking place this week in San Francisco at the Moscone Center. We will also be showcasing the new line of GoFlex for Mac external hard drives originally unveiled at CES 2011.

So while no new revelations from Apple are likely at Macworld Expo 2011, there will be a lot of cool new applications and products—such as the GoFlex Net and GoFlex for Mac family of external hard drives—that may shake things up nonetheless and are worth checking out…
