Seagate at the Flash Memory Summit 2013

“Flash and Hard Drives: Partners in Tomorrow’s Storage Systems”

That’s the topic of the keynote to be given tomorrow at 1:30PM at the Flash Memory Summit by Gary Gentry, the SVP of Seagate’s solid state drive business.

If you’re scratching your head right now saying, “the wha–?” keep calm and flash on. Flash memory has been around awhile and is a computer storage device that can be electrically erased and reprogrammed.

The Flash Memory Summit has been around for a bit and is an opportunity for the big wigs in the storage/technology space to gather, talk about the technology, advancements, developments, etc.  It’s like San Diego Comic Con or the Electronic Entertainment Expo for storage people.

So coming back full circle, Gentry is going to be talking about how hard disk drives and solid state drives will evolve and be used to solve issues facing today’s ever-changing storage requirements.

There are countless challenges that must be overcome as part of deploying HDD’s and SSD’s together in data centers and as an expert in this space (wonders who just caught the storage joke I slipped in) it makes perfect sense for Gary Gentry to lead this topic.

If you’re not able to attend the summit, you’ll want to check their official site for news coming from the show. What you learn may surprise you.
