Summer (Not Winter) Is Coming…

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got summer on my mind. But not in the way you may be thinking. Sure, a trip to the beach or local amusement park would be dandy, but for me it’s about finding a free weekend to do some cleaning around the house.

For you parents out there, you’ll understand the challenge of what to do with all the collected artwork and other school projects that your child has created over the course of the year. You don’t want to throw it away because you want to hold onto those memories, but you may have a finite living space to contend with. So it hit me (literally) as I stubbed my toe on a storage bin under my son’s bed that contains a lot of his schoolwork. I’ve been already taking pictures of his work and posting to Flickr to share with my family. So why not preserve the work by storing it on a hard drive? The portability of an external hard drive makes it an ideal solution and you can store them much easier. (Especially the GoFlex Slim /plug.)

Let’s be honest, we all know the glue sticks used in kindergarten aren’t going to last forever, right? So why not really hold onto the memory and admire the progression of our personal Picassos by storing their artwork digitally? Then as they grow from Boyz II Men, you can pass along a drive that they can share with their children.

Granted, this doesn’t completely resolve my living space issue. But that’s what grandma’s house is for.
