South by Southwest is doing something interesting this year for the music component of the festival by introducing a Music Hackathon Championship.
If you’re not familiar with or have never been to a hackathon, it’s a pretty interesting concept. Basically, you complete in collaborative computer programming for a particular project. For the event at SXSW, the goal is to create new technology innovations in the music space.
With the grand prize of 10K on the line (along with the unmentioned bragging rights), expect to see equal parts hustle and creativity. The 24-hour competition will take place starting on March 12th at 2PM with the Championship Awards Show on Friday, March 14th.
