The World of Backup Plus – Part 3: The Social Connection

The launch of a new line of hard drives is an exciting one. I won’t go as far as to call it an early Christmas, but it’s maybe an equivalent of having dropped a few unwanted pounds.  But before you go off and have that celebratory cupcake, let me tell you about one other feature of the Backup Plus hard drives we’re stoked about – the Social Connection.

When you access your dashboard software, you’ll see an option to “Share” which allows you to download (or upload) upload your photos and videos from social networking sites Facebook and Flickr. If you’re using YouTube, you’ll be able to upload your videos straight from your hard drive.  Here’s how:

First, connect your Backup Plus hard drive and access the dashboard software.  Once open, click SHARE.

Now you’ll need to connect your social networks. You don’t have to connect all three right this second. You can easily select which network you want to access by entering in your credentials. For this example, let’s log into Facebook.

Once connected, navigate to the content folder you wish to download. Once you’ve selected a folder, click SELECT ALBUM.

Once you’ve selected an album, click OK (or the checkmark) and sit back to watch the magic happen as photos that were available on your social network are now backed up onto your device. And yes, it is that easy.

Follow these same steps to download (or upload) pictures from Flickr, but remember, for YouTube, you can only upload videos from your device to the web. Just because you liked this video doesn’t mean you can take it with you.

So what do you think of this feature? We love reading comments so leave one below, on Facebook page or our Twitter.
