Just for fun: long live the mix tape

Conceivably Tech first said the Sony Walkman was officially dead, but they quickly corrected this by stating it’s officially dead in Japan.  Believe it or not, the cassette playing device is still alive and well in the US.  Hard to believe that there is still demand for this product, but according to Sony per Conceivably Tech, there is.

My question is in the era of everything digital where content is more portable than ever, who is buying these things?  Is it the same people buying albums and record players for nostalgic preference…the crackling sound of a good old fashioned LP is hard to refute, not to mention the album jackets themselves…true art forms.  I guess you cannot go wrong with that mix tape you made back in the 80s.

Funny how storage just keeps on living in so many forms.  If you are one of the ones that thought cassette tapes would be dead by now…think again.  Makes you may want to rethink the over-arching opinion of the near term demise of the hard drive…it just ain’t happenin’.

Sure flash dominates the portable media player market, but what happens with those are replaced by cloud storage?  Just like hard drives alleviated you of the cassette tape storage case, they will free you from carrying anything but a cell phone.

I’m all for nostalgia, but hard drives have a long way to go before they are nostalgic.

More Just Fun
and even more…
