The beauty of a Mac with a GoFlex to match

Seagate announced it has taken the award winning GoFlex family of hard drives and “Mac-ified” them with features that address the specific needs of the Mac user.  The original GoFlex family has always been Mac compatible, but this new line of drives adds some extra flair:

  • Out of the box HFS+ formatted, so it’s Apple Time Machine ready.
  • Includes both FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 cable adapters in the box…that’s like 2 drives for the price of one.
  • Features the metallic finish that makes Mac systems unique today and we all know how important aesthetics are.

So what drives are included in this new family of Mac drives?

  • GoFlex for Mac ultra-portable drive – 1.0TB and 1.5TB offerings
  • GoFlex for Mac Limited Edition ultra-portable drive – super slim 1.0TB drive
  • GoFlex Pro for Mac ultra portable – 750GB 7200RPM drive for creative professionals
  • GoFlex Desk for Mac drive – 2.0TB and 3.0TB desktop offerings

Another bonus about this product…you can still use it with GoFlex accessories like USB3.0 and eSATA cable adapters, GoFlex TV, GoFlex Net, and you can even make it Windows ready with a simple download of the HFS+ driver for Windows. But let’s be honest here…this drive is for Mac users and Mac users alone.

A Mac and a GoFlex…flexibility, simplicity, speed, and the looks to match. Not bad.

  4. […] I think much of Apple’s success with its first generation iPad was the price point.  If a bunch of $750+ tablets hit the market, perhaps consumers may take a second look at going with a tablet if they could get a new laptop for around the same price.  This begs the question…why are people buying tablets?  Apple’s power messaging would indicate mobility (form factor, weight, speed).   Storage plays a large role in mobility, hence the huge market for portable hard drives.
